MoDOT Accepting Proposals for Chester Bridge Preservation

(Regional Radio) The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Historic Preservation Section is accepting relocation and reuse proposals for the Route 51 Chester Bridge. Karen Daniels is MoDOT’s senior historic preservation specialist.

She breaks down the types of proposals they’re seeking.

Any individual, business, organization or government entity can submit proposals until the end of December, 2018. Daniels says there is criteria they use when grading the strength of a proposal.

The Route 51 Chester Bridge is about a half-mile long and passes over the Mississippi River. Both MoDOT and the Illinois Department of Transportation have reported the bridge to be safe for travel on but also rates it in poor condition. To submit your proposal, click here.
