Democrats Introduce Bill to Help Missouri Farmers

(Jefferson City) Democrats in the Missouri House are pushing legislation that would restore a ban on foreign ownership of farmland in the state. Representative Martha Stevens of Columbia introduced the bill this week in the Economic Development committee.

She says the ban was eliminated by Republicans in 2013 “in order to favor foreign-owned corporations over Missouri family farmers.”

Stevens is also supporting Missouri Democrats’ “Farmer’s Bill of Rights” which calls for protecting the right to local control of land and the right to rural opportunity.
