AUG 1-4, 2015 AREA CHURCH COLLECTING FOR OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD


With back to school sales underway local churches are collecting shoe boxes filled with those items for Operation Christmas Child.
Donations can be made at the First Baptist Churches of Farmington andFredericktown, the Leadington Free Will Baptist Church, First Baptist
Church in Ste. Genevieve and the Potosi Southern Baptist Church.

AUG 1-4, 2015 CRANE LAKE LOWERING


The water level at Crane Lake in Iron County is being lowered so Mark Twain National Forest workers can conduct maintenance on the dam's control structure. The lake will be dropped 12-feet so boat launching will not be feasible, but shoreline fishing will continue. Water levels at Crane Lake will remain down thru the winter to help reduce the abundance of aquatic plants.

AUG 1, 2015 GOSPEL CONCERT IN STEELVILLE


A gospel concert featuring Walter Plant will take place Saturday evening at 6:30 at the Straightway Baptist Church on double 'B' Highway in Steelville.

AUG 1, 2015 BENEFIT FOR TINA ROTH AT ZELL JAYCEES


There's a benefit fundraiser for Tina Wibbenmeyer Roth who's been diagnosed with A.L.S. on Saturday, August 1st from 2 to 11pm at the Zell Jaycee Hall. There will be food, a silent auction, drawings, bounce house, a horseshoe tournament, music and more.

Karen Roman from the Farmington Public Library will be at the farmers market in Farmington on Saturday. She'll be there to answer questions about the new library opening in September.

AUG 1, 2015 CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION EVENT IN STE. GENEVIEVE


"Jacobpalooza" a child abuse prevention event in honor of Jacob Mattingly will take place Saturday, August 1st at the Ste. Genevieve Jaycees. A poker run, children's activities, barbecue, live music and more is planned. For more information call Savanna 535-4911.

Farmington Parents as Teachers will hold a free Transportation Day on Saturday morning from 8 until 10 at Engler Park. All kinds of vehicles, including a helicopter, police car and fire truck, will be on display.

A Parents as Teachers Family Fun Day will be held Saturday at Engler Park in Farmington. Registration for a 5K and one mile fun run, walk and crawl will start at 8 o'clock.

AUG 1, 2015 BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT AT PLEASANT VIEW ASSEMBLY OF GOD IN FARMINGTON


The Pleasant View Assembly of God Church in Farmington will have a Back 2 School Community Giveaway on Saturday, August 1st at the church from 10-2. The church is located off old Highway 67 on College Road, by Mineral Area College.

The Welsey United Methodist Church on Highway 61 in Festus is holding a free school supply giveaway on Saturday, August 1st from 10AM-2PM for anyone who may be in need of school supplies. A fundraiser for The Hope Center USA and Backstoppers will take place on Saturday, August 22nd at Veterans Memorial Park in Perryville from 1 to 5pm. There will be fire fighter competitions, emergency equipment displays, horse and pony rides, food and fun.
