FEB 20, 2012 FATALITY SHOOTING IN FARMINGTON (Audio)





(Farmington) Authorities shot and killed a fleeing gunman and a deputy was wounded this Monday morning in the parking lot of U.S.A. Drug in Farmington at the corner of Karsch and Washington. The Farmington Police Department received a call just after midnight from a bail bondsman who was trying to apprehend a suspect at an apartment complex in southeast Farmington. The bail bondsman told police that a 32 year old black male of Farmington was baricaded in the complex with a weapon. St. Francois County Sheriff Deputy Don Smith was treated for a minor led wound and is now home.

The St. Francois County coroner's office took the body of the suspect during our live report with Chief Baker shortly after 6:00 this morning on regional radio.
