JULY 11, 2012 FLAGS AT HALF MAST

(Union) On the same week that the 1138th National Guard Unit out of Farmington left for another deployment to Afghanistan, Governor Nixon has ordered that all U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings be flown at half staff on Thursday.

It's being done to honor a Franklin County soldier who died on July 2nd of injuries sustained while serving in Guatemala.

Staff Sergeant Robert Traxel was assigned to the 70th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment and before his service to the National Guard, he was a marine.

The 1138th is now on it's third tour in Afghanistan.
