(CRYSTAL CITY) The 15th Annual Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic champions are the St. Vincent Indians after a convincing 69-50 victory over the Scott City Rams tonight on AM 1400 KJFF.

The Indians led by 10 at the half and by 14 at the end of 3. Their rebounding was top-quality and they had plenty of second-chance points thanks in large part to junior center Shawn Koishor. An example of all of the above was on display in the 4th quarter.

Indians head coach Bruce Valleroy was complimentary of the entire team and its effort.

St. Vincent has now won back-to-back Rolla “Duke” Herbert championships.

Playing in the 3rd place game prior to the championship were 2-seed Jefferson and 4-seed Saxony Lutheran. The Blue Jays won a great battle, 47-42. The turning point in the game came late in the 3rd as the Blue Jays defense turned it up a notch defensively.

The Blue Jays never relinquished the lead in the 4th and wind up finishing the tournament as 3rd place champs.

Head Coach Sean Breeze was all smiles about that end to the 3rd quarter.

The Jefferson Blue Jays improved to 2-1 with the win and will be at home on Tuesday at 5:30 against Hancock for their next game. St. Vincent starts off the season 3-0 and will get an entire week to rest up before welcoming in Oak Ridge on Friday.

As far as the other games today and tonight in the Rolla “Duke” Herbert Classic, host Crystal City salvaged the week with a 76-62 victory over the St. Louis Patriots in the 7th place game while Herculaneum defeated Grandview 48-17 in the 5th place game.
