(Jefferson County) Three Festus senior football players have committed with college programs this week during the signing period. Festus head coach Russ Schmidt says all three will be staying "in state".
Schmidt expects three or four other players to commit to various schools at a later time.
Some other local high school football players that have committed to play in college include Crystal City lineman Cody Pollock. Pollock will be a preferred walk on at the University of Southern Illinois at Carbondale. The 6'2 278 pound lineman will get some financial help from the school because of his high academic numbers, but not a scholarship.
Herculaneum lineman Cody Petero, who is a two time Regional Radio Dream Team selection will attend Missouri Valley College, as they plan to use him as a linebacker. Missouri Valley is an NAIA level school located in Marshall, Missouri. Petero will not be the only Jefferson County football player heading to Missouri Valley, as Windsor defensive back Jeremy Vick has signed with the school as well.
