(Hillsboro) Crystal City graduate Travis Hayes is finally starting to feel back to normal. Hayes, a pitcher with the Jefferson College baseball team, had to redshirt his first season due to shoulder surgery, but came back strong and was a huge contibutor to the Vikings success this spring. Hayes says it took some time, and a lot of effort to get back to where he needed to be.
Hayes was encouraged not to play baseball this summer, and just let the shoulder rest up a little more. He thinks it will help to have him even stronger next season.
Hayes spent most of the season as the top relief pitcher on the Vikings staff and was also used as the closer. He went 6-3 on the mound with 6 saves. He also threw 57 innings with 58 strikeouts. Jeffco, of course, made it to the JUCO World Series and finished 5th with an overall record of 53-12.
