(Sedalia) The Festus Post 253 American Legion baseball team heads to Sedalia Thursday to compete in the state championships. The four-team double elimination tournament begins with Washington Post 218 against Blue Springs Post 499 at 5:30, and Festus will meet Carthage at 8:30. Festus manager Pat Bone says none of the three teams can be taken lightly.

Festus won the state title in 2005, but fell short in 2006 as both state finals were held in Sedalia. Festus will be seeking their fourth Missouri American Legion State Championship and their second in a row. They will open the tournament Thursday night against Carthage around 8:30, and you can hear the game on 1400 K-JEFF.
