(New York) The Saint Louis Cardinals were shutout 4 to nothing on Thursday by the New York Mets.

Blake Hawksworth took the loss, dropping his record to 4 and 7.

The Birds only had four hits in the game. Saint Louis is now a half game behind Cincinatti for first place in the Central Division.

The Cardinals open a six-game homestand on Friday night at Busch Stadium against the last place Pittsburgh Pirates.
