(FESTUS) Jefferson R-7’s Abi Chipps has been voted by area coaches as one of the 10 best softball players in the Regional Radio listening area, landing her on the Dream Team.
Jefferson head coach Melanie Rouggly uttered these words about Abi saying, “She brings a contagious energy to the game and kept her teammates up through hard times. Abi is a coach’s dream and a natural leader.” Abi reflects on those words.
As a shortstop for the Blue Jays, Chipps had a .683 batting average, scored 43 runs, drove in 13, swiped 25 bases and only struck out 5 times in 90 plate appearances. Abi reveals her secret to putting up those kinds of numbers as just a sophomore.
Abi Chipps is also a member of the Jefferson basketball and track teams and is All-State in both. In the classroom, Chipps is a member of student council, National Honor Society, and Leadership Club as well as a Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-State.
