Medical Marijuana became Officially Legal Today in Missouri

(Farmington) Today, Missouri officially became the 32nd state to have legalized medical marijuana with the passage of Amendment 2 by voters last month.

The plant will be able to be prescribed to treat various medical conditions.

Jack Cardetti is the spokesman for Amendment 2.

He says there’s still a lot to do before you can get a prescription, including growing it and opening dispensaries.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services have six months to get applications available for medical marijuana businesses and needs to create a system of rules and regulations for medical marijuana.

Just this week, State Representative Brandon Ellington has pre-filed a bill for the next legislative session to legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older.

States that have already legalized recreational use include Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont and Washington.
