(DESLOGE, Mo.) – A Bonne Terre man and a Park Hills woman are facing several felony charges after a crime spree earlier this week.
The Daily Journal reports Matthew Bailey, 30, and Karissa Mowery, 29, were charged with felony robbery, kidnapping, tampering with a motor vehicle and armed criminal action.
According to police, the two forced their way into a taxi Monday evening, tied up the driver and took money from him to buy drugs. Mowery forced the driver to take a sedative drug and threatened to kill him if he didn’t. Officers soon caught word after receiving a missing person report for the taxi driver. A St. Francois County Sheriff’s deputy started chasing the vehicle near Bonne Terre, resulting in a crash in a crash near a Desloge landfill. The deputy sustained minor to moderate injuries and was treated at Parkland Health Center.
Earlier that morning, Bailey and Mowery had held Bailey’s mother and caretaker at her home against her will and had threatened to set off a bomb at a Farmington institution.
Both Bailey and Mowery are in custody at the St. Francois County Jail on a 200-thousand dollar bond.
