2019 Jefferson Girls Track and Field Primed for Run at Class 2 Title
(FESTUS) The Jefferson girls track and field team that finished runner-up at state last year in Class 2 returns 6 of the 7 state qualifiers for the 2019 season.
Taya Allen, Ashley Edmond, Jenna Curtois, and Anna and Jordan Heacock are all coming back for their senior years for one last-ditch effort at a state title. Coach Alex Rouggly breaks down Allen’s and Curtois’ chances of doing great things.
Allen and Curtois will be heading to Maryville at season’s end. As for Wichita State commit Anna Heacock, Rouggly will be taking it slow with her.
And then there is Anna’s sister Jordan, who’s committed to Missouri Southern State. Coach Rouggly says that she has been the anchor for the distance program since she was a freshman.
According to Coach Rouggly, others in the mix with a potential to do great things this season includes junior Abi Chipps, senior Kendall Runzi, and freshman Payton Cattoor and Maddie Edmond.
The Jefferson girls track and field season will officially get underway on Saturday at the Festus McCullough-Douglas Invitational beginning at 8:30 a.m.
