Both MAC Teams Lose Region 16 Opener at Three Rivers

(Poplar Bluff) Both Mineral Area College basketball teams fell in their Region 16 opener on the road at Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff. The ladies lost 74-67 and the men 87-77.

The MAC women led 18-10, but Three Rivers went on a 13-2 run to lead by four at the half. The Raiders then started the second half on a 15-4 run and built a 20 point lead. They were fueled by eight three pointers and 30 points from their point guard Hailee Erickson. MAC scored 14 in a row in 4th quarter to make it a six point game….

Ree Papa led the Cardinals with 14 points.

Assistant coach Briley Palmer says the young squad will learn and be better from it….

MAC falls to 12-4 and 0-1 in Region 16. Three Rivers improves to 12-3 and 1-0.

The men’s game was similar with Three Rivers rolling to a 24 point advantage before MAC finally put together a second half run. The 25-11 spurt closed the gap to 10…

It was too much Tristan Jarrett. The nation’s leading scorer poured in 35 points for the Raiders.
