Steelville’s Gibbs Signs To Run At West Point

(STEELVILLE, Mo.) – Allie Gibbs of the Steelville Cardinals‘ cross country and track teams is ready to make a big step in her life, as she officially signed to attend the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. As far as choosing a place to attend college and run competitively, Gibbs said it was an easy choice.

2018 was a great year for Gibbs, as she earned two individual state championships in the spring track and field season, then followed it up with a sixth-place finish in the state cross country meet this fall. Gibbs said while a minor knee injury kept her from a better finish in the cross country season, she still received great support throughout the year.

Before she leaves for West Point, Gibbs said she still has some goals to reach for the upcoming track season.

Gibbs said she plans to major in pre-law and minor in mechanical engineering.
