(FARMINGTON) – The Farmington Police Department has released more details regarding Thursday night’s shooting that left two Farmington men dead. At around 8:30 p.m., Justin Brooks, 35, shot and killed Shane Littlejohn, 39, on South Washington Street. A witness, who was working with Littlejohn on a vehicle on the side of the road, said Brooks drove up and fired three shots and drove off. Farmington Police Chief Rick Baker said the shooter and victim were acquaintances.
Littlejohn was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head. One hour later, officers found Brooks’ approximate location using a cell phone ping. Officers arrived at a storage shed on Highway 221 in Delassus, where they found Brooks dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Baker said they requested a toxicology screen on Brooks to determine if there were any drugs in his system during the incident.
An autopsy will be performed on Littlejohn, but not on Brooks.
