(Washington) U.S. Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri says negotiations have stalled between lawmakers working on a border security funding compromise ahead of Friday’s deadline.
The Missouri Republican says Democrats have brought up a new topic about detention center beds for people committing crimes before or after they crossed the border.
There was hope that Blunt’s ability to work across the aisle could lead to a compromise border security package and avert another partial federal government shutdown.
He’s been calling for both sides to make concessions.
