(BONNE TERRE) The Desoto Dragons will head to the semifinal round of the Class 4 District 2 boys basketball tournament as they defeated the Ste. Genevieve Dragons Saturday afternoon 61-54 in overtime. In the game heard on KREI, the two teams were deadlocked at 11-11 after the 1st quarter and remained so at 27-27 at the half.

Ste. Genevieve outscored DeSoto 13-2 in the 3rd quarter, but then DeSoto rallied back in the 4th when senior guard Cameron Krodinger slotted home 9 points and assisted on this game-tying bucket.

That was our play of the game. Cameron Krodinger led the scoring for DeSoto with 16 points, 7 of those in OT. Krodinger was also our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game. DeSoto coach Zeb Hammond talks about Cameron putting the team on his back after Clayton Snudden fouled out.

Desoto is now 12-15 and will play Farmington in the semifinals Tuesday evening at 6 at North County High School on J98. Ste. Genevieve was led by Chad Donze who scored 14. They end their season at 14-15.

In the second boys game, the North County Raiders used a second-half comeback to knock off the Potosi Trojans 70-62. Potosi led for much of the first half, but the Raiders stormed back with Karter Kekec putting in 35 points.

North County coach Jimmy Palmer gave a lot of credit to the bench.
