Lightning strikes Hillsboro Fire Protection District house

(Hillsboro) Saturday’s morning thunderstorms did bring in a fair amount of rainfall with some thunder and lightning. The Hillsboro Fire Protection District building located on 5th Street was struck by lightning around 9 in the morning according to Assistant Fire Chief Brian Gaudet.

The building did not catch fire, but there was visible smoke inside. Gaudet says the lightning actually struck an antennae on power pole out side the building.

Gaudet says it only took around an hour to get things back up and running normally. DeSoto Rural Fire District was called up to help with any calls during that time. There were no injuries to personnel due to the lightning strike.
