David E. Dews of DeSoto passed away on Monday, he was 59 years old. He served as the City Manager of DeSoto from 1999 to 2017 and was the current Executive Director for the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation. He previously served on the DeSoto Board of Education. He was the honorary chairman and spoke as a cancer survivor at the Festus Relay For Life in 2014. He was a member of the Missouri Economic Development Council, the Jefferson County Growth Association, the Highway 21 Task Force, and the Safety First Coalition.
He was the past president of the DeSoto Rotary Club, DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, and the DeSoto Community Foundation.
He is survived by his wife Patty, two stepchildren; Jacob Reando and Jessica Powell, one sister; Sandra Fuchs of Owensville, two brothers; Don of Columbia, and Randy of Nebraska, six grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew, his father, and mother-in-law; Martin and Bertha Marshall.
The funeral service for David Dews will be Monday morning at 10 at the Dietrich-Mothershead funeral home in DeSoto, with internment in the Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in DeSoto.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4 until 8 at the funeral home.
