Glenwood Allen Clemens of Pevely died Thursday, April 11th, at the age of 91. He enlisted with the Merchant Marines in June of 1944 and served aboard the Liberty Ship USS Charles N. McGroarty until April of 1945. In October of 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served honorably until June 1966 when he retired from the U.S. Marine Corps earning the rank of Major. After his military service, he went to work for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company (PPG) working in the corporate office and was a member of VFW post 3777 in Festus.
He is survived by wife Lois “Scoochie” Clemens, daughters Roxanne Clemens of DeSoto, Rochelle Schlueter of Arnold, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 11 A.M., Monday, April 15th, at Herculaneum City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
Memorials in his memory are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
