Farmington Couple Accused of Kidnapping & Child Endangerment Say Not Guilty

(Farmington) A couple charged with multiple felony counts of child endangerment and kidnapping out of St. Francois County pleaded not guilty last week to all charges levied against them.

Daryl Head and Laura Cheatham both 39 years old, were arrested in August of 2018 for allegedly keeping four children inside small boxes at their Farmington home.

The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office said Head and Cheatham were charged after deputies and the Missouri Children’s Division investigators found the children being kept inside boxes that were sealed shut with plywood and screws.

Officers say they found three girls and a boy between the ages 5 and 12.

Those children were allegedly being held in “specially constructed” spaces that had no windows or lighting.

Investigators also learned that in January of 2018, Laura Cheatham, a recent former employee of the Missouri Department of Corrections, placed an order with Prison Industries Clothing Division for four kids size prison inmate uniforms.

It is alleged that Cheatham told the offender in charge of the clothing division that the uniforms, “were for her kids.”

Head and Cheatham are facing 8 felonies apiece and will next appear in court for their trial setting on August 7th.
