(Hillsboro) The drama continues within the Jefferson County Council in terms of placing a proposition on the April election ballot for a bump in funding for the Parks Department. Just over two weeks ago, the council voted 5 to 2 in favor of a ballot issue, however, the wording was such that the monies would not be used for a recreation center, swimming pools, or a water park. The on Monday, the vote was tabled until a study can be made to see the financial benefits. District 1 Councilman Brian Haskins says the Arnold area councilmen seem to be against it as they have those amenities already.
Haskins says it comes down to allowing the county residents to make the decision to fund a department that has not seen an increase for over 50 years.
Haskins says ultimately the proposition is for the children of the county.
The Jefferson County Council has until January to finalize a proposition, to make the deadline to place it on the April election ballot.
