(FESTUS) KJEFF Sports Talk took a trip down memory lane on Tuesday as KJFF Program Director Ryan Reinheimer joined the show.
With the Festus Post 253 baseball team returning to the American Legion World Series, Ryan reflected on his time covering the 2009 Post 253 squad that became the first-ever to do so.
Ryan recalled some of the major contributors to that team’s 5th place finish at the World Series in Fargo, North Dakota.
This year’s Post 253 squad features guys like St. Pius grad and Maryville commit, Jeremy Isenman; Hillsboro Hawk and future Mineral Area College Cardinal Christian Hancock as well as Hillsboro’s Isack Hamilton; Festus High School’s Jake Leitner, Eddie Martin, who is going to Fontbonne, and Charlie Pratt, who will be attending St. Louis Community College; Jefferson R-7’s Levi Ebersoldt, Colby Ott, Jacob Bridges and soon-to-be MAC Cardinal Jacob Melton; of course, Herculaneum’s Jordan Duncan.
And let’s not forget Michael Brewer, who was with the team for about the first 3 weeks of the season before signing a major league baseball contract with the Texas Rangers. The list goes on and on.
The 2019 Festus Post 253 squad will get underway in World Series “Stars” Pool Play tomorrow at noon against Albuquerque Post 13 out of New Mexico. For the 10th year in a row, the American Legion Baseball World Series is being held in Shelby, North Carolina.
