Potosi Gets 34-20 Road Football Win Over Perryville Friday On J-98

(PERRYVILLE, Mo.) – It was a victory for the Potosi Trojans on Friday night as they went on the road and got by the Perryville Pirates by a final score of 34-20.

Potosi got on top in the first quarter thanks to a touchdown run by senior Kyle Miller.

It was 7-0 after the PAT and another touchdown run by senior Tristan Murdick made it 13-0 with a missed PAT this time.

Later in the second, Perryville went for it on 4th and goal from the 1-yard-line and came up short.

However, two plays later the Serenity Hospice Care Play of the Game made by Perryville junior Dylan Holt gave the Pirates some new life.

The score was now 13-7 but the Trojans didn’t blink, as they followed up the miscue with a big run to flip the field by senior running back Isaac Gaghen.

Gaghen was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with 8 rushes and 178 yards.

He set up his fellow senior running back Wade Mercille for a score with a minute left in the half to put Potosi up 19-7.

What made the score even bigger for Potosi was that they started off with the ball in the 3rd quarter.

Another long run from Gaghen on the 3rd quarter’s first play this time set up junior Brayden Isgriggs for a score to put Potosi up big.

It was 27-7 after the two point conversion, and that would ultimately prove to be enough for Potosi, as a few late touchdown throws by Perryville junior quarterback Evan Daugherty weren’t enough, resulting in the Trojans taking the contest 34-20.

Potosi head coach Ed Haar was proud of how his team fought.

It was similar sentiments from Perryville head coach Blane Boss, who knows his team is dealing with a lot of injuries right now.

Potosi hosts Ste. Genevieve next week.

Coach Haar knows they’ll have to play a tighter game against the Dragons.

Perryville has Fredericktown at home in Week 4.
