(Imperial) The annual State of the County Address was held at Seckman High School in Imperial today (Monday). The event, sponsored by the Jefferson County Growth Association, was carried live on 1400 KJFF. The event began with Fox C-6 Superintendent Paul Fregeau speaking on the latest news with the school district, and JCGA President Dan Govero recapping their events and promoting their future events for 2022. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon then spoke to the crowd of around 200 people. Gannon says Jefferson County continues to grow in many ways.
Gannon says sales tax was good in 2021, and many positive moves have been made concerning ports along the Mississippi River.
Gannon says the county continues to make progress to improve and help law enforcement,
Gannon says other positive news in Jefferson County includes the now set plan to add an additional lane of traffic on I-55 from Highway Z in Pevely to south of Festus at Highway 61-67. He also mentioned improvements and updating the county Master Plan, and changing new construction building codes to make things move easier and more smoothly for construction growth in the county.
