(Hillsboro, Herculaneum) The annual State of the County Address was held at Herculaneum High School today (Monday). The event, sponsored by the Jefferson County Growth Association, was carried live on 1400 KJFF. The event began with Dunklin R-5 Superintendent Dr. Clint Freeman speaking on the latest news with the school district, and JCGA President Dan Govero recapping their events and promoting their future events for 2023. Jefferson County Executive Dennis Gannon then spoke to the crowd of around 200 people. Gannon went over some of the many accomplishments the county was able to obtain last year…

Gannon discussed the move up of the I-55 project which will add a third lane of traffic from Route Z in Pevely to the Highway 67 interchange south of Festus. Work on the I-55 expansion project is expected to get underway later this year…

Gannon also highlighted the deal made with James Hardie manufacturing who will be building a new plant in Crystal City on the former airport property. The plant is expected to bring 250 jobs to the area. Gannon says James Hardie will likely open up even more business opportunities in the future.

Gannon also highlighted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office crime lab project is now in the design phase and hopes to continue to find ways to fund a new courthouse and jail in the coming years.
