(JEFFERSON R-7) The 5th Annual Hoops for Hope Classic designed to support families in the Herculaneum and Jefferson communities that are dealing with cancer is Friday night at Jefferson High School.

The girls and boys JV teams will begin the Classic at 3:45 followed by the girls and boys varsity games beginning at 6, which you can hear on AM 1400 KJFF. Jefferson Athletic Director Jason Dreyer says the event all began with an R-7 Athletic Department staff member and her husband coming forward five years ago with the idea.

To help raise more money, there will be raffle prizes available throughout the event. They include St. Louis Cardinals and Blues tickets, Kansas City Royals tickets, and gift baskets. There will also be a drawing for a signed and framed Matt Carpenter and Vladimir Tarasenko jersey.

All proceeds from the night will go to the two families from R-7 whose names have not been made public. Again, the varsity games of the Hoops for Hope Classic can be heard on AM 1400 KJFF beginning at 6 p.m. Friday night. Game preview is here.
