(PARK HILLS) The 62nd Annual Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Basketball Tournament comes to Regional Radio on Tuesday. The Tournament features 16 boys teams and 8 girls teams squaring off over 5 days. Regional Radio’s coverage begins on J98 with the 8 vs 9 match-up, the DeSoto Dragons and the Potosi Trojans.

The Dragons enter with an even 6-6 record thus far this season and head coach Zeb Hammond says they’ve have been fighting a bit of a flu bug to start the season.

The Trojans are 3-4 and are lead by head coach Brett Hale who says they have gotten more consistent play from their big men on offense.

Tipoff between the Dragons and Trojans is set for 5:30.

Following Desoto and Potosi is the tournament host and 4th seed Central Rebels against the feisty 13th seeded Viburnum Blue Jays. Central is 4-3 this season, with an overtime loss to Saxony Lutheran last week. Rebels head coach Adam Barton says he hopes to use Viburnum’s aggressive defense to his team’s benefit.

As for the 5-2 Blue Jays and coach Randy Payne, it’s important to stick to what they know.

The last game of the evening sees the 5th seeded Festus Tigers taking on the 12th seeded West County Bulldogs. Festus holds a 5-3 record entering the tournament and head coach Jason Therrell says they’re lead by their guards on most nights.

West County has gone 3-5 thus far this season and head coach Chris Labruyere says that his boys have been playing better of late.

Other tournament games on the 26th include the opening round of the girls tournament as well as the top seeded Hillsboro Hawks and the 16th seed Crystal City Hornets in the boys bracket. Regional Radio’s coverage will begin at 5:15 with the pregame show on J98.
