63 Traffic Fatalities In February In Missouri

(Farmington) The Missouri Department of Transportation is reporting 63 traffic fatalities in February following a five-year low for road deaths in January.

There were 12 days last month where three or more people were killed in a crash, including six fatalities on Super Bowl Sunday.

MoDOT’s Nicole Hood says one life lost is too many.

She says the majority of these deaths are preventable by simply slowing down, buckling up and putting your phone down.

Preliminary numbers show 72-percent of drivers and passengers killed so far in 2020 crashes were not wearing seat belts.

There were 877 fatalities on Missouri roads in 2019.
