(HILLSBORO) Play resumes Friday night in the 63rd Annual Gene Steighorst Tournament with a pair of semifinal games.

The first game features top-seed Hillsboro versus the 4-seed Windsor at 5:30 p.m. on KJFF. The Hawks defeated Northwest 67-31 on Monday behind 24 points from Michael Brewer and 21 from Ben Lampkins. Hillsboro coach Dan Johnson sees similarities between his team and the Owls, which should make for a fun matchup.

Windsor beat Festus 61-58 in a nail-biter on Monday with a good game defensively, according to coach Todd Dutton. That’s where it starts for him.

The second game of the night involves 2-seed Central and 3-seed Eureka at 7 on AM 800 KREI. The Wildcats knocked off DeSoto 65-42 on Tuesday behind 24 points from Avery Taggart and 15 from Antonio Sanders.

Head coach Austin Kirby got a chance to see a little bit of the Central game and shares his assessment of them.

Number zero, of course, being Breven McMullen who led the Rebels to victory over Seckman on Tuesday with 19 points. Central only scored 9 points in the first quarter during that win and head coach Adam Barton knows they must do better than that tonight…

Coverage of the 63rd Annual Gene Steighorst Tournament semifinals between Hillsboro and Windsor will begin at 5:15 Friday night on AM 1400 KJFF. Game 2 with Central and Eureka will follow 15 minutes after Game 1 concludes, and that will be on AM 800 KREI.
