Hillsboro Fire hoping to pass increase to keep staff

(Hillsboro) The Hillsboro Fire Protection District is asking its voters to pass a tax increase issue on Tuesday’s election ballot. Proposition Full Time Staffing will be seen on a ballot which is a 35 cent increase to be implemented over a three-year period. Hillsboro Fire Chief Brian Gaudet says they have tried to pass tax increase issues over the past two years, but they were both voted down.

Gaudet says they were able to receive a grant to hire additional help since it was declared they were understaffed for the number of residents the district serves. However, now they need to pass this issue to keep these firefighters on staff.

Proposition Full Time Staffing within the Hillsboro Fire Protection District will need a simple majority to pass on tomorrow’s (Tuesday) election ballot.
