7 JeffCo cross country teams move on from districts

Running a Marathon

(Festus) 7 different cross country teams from Jefferson County advanced to the MSHSAA state championships after their performance in district races Saturday. The St. Pius Lancer girls moved on in Class 2 District 2, led by individual district champion Rita Eimer. The Jefferson Blue Jay boys also qualified as a team in District 2. In Class 3 District 1, the Herculaneum Blackcats won the boys’ team title and were second in the girls’ team standings, as both teams advanced to state. In Class 4 District 1, the Festus Tigers won another boys’ team title and finished second in the girls’ standings. The Tigers had the top 4 individual times on the boys’ side, led by district champion Ian Schram. The Hillsboro Hawks finished second in the boys’ team standings in Class 4 District 1, which pushes them through. The full individual qualifiers are listed below.
