A St. Louis man drowns at Rockford Beach in House Springs
(House Springs) A man is dead after drowning at Rockford Beach in House Springs on Sunday. High Ridge firefighters were dispatched to a potential drowning at 7:47 Sunday night. When the first unit arrived on the scene, they were informed that an adult male was jumping from a nearby bluff, and approximately an hour or more had passed since he had last been seen.
Rescuers deployed a boat and a drone to search the river and shoreline in an attempt to locate the missing person. They also utilized sonar equipment to scan underwater near the spot he was believed to be jumping. Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol was also called to the scene, and the search was eventually called off at approximately 11:30 PM.
On Monday morning, High Ridge firefighters returned to the scene to assist the Water Patrol utilizing a sonar system, and the victim’s body was located by individuals from both agencies operating from a boat at 10:35 AM. The 41-year-old that drowned on the Big River at Rockford Beach in House Springs was identified as Hamsa Mohamed of St. Louis.
