(Festus) The start of a major construction project in Festus is set to get started next week. The replacement of a major sewer line will ultimately result in the sewage lagoon located near West City Park going away. However, the sewer line project begins near Jokerst Park and will force the closure of a portion of South Mill Street for about a week. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the contractors will start the day after Labor Day.

Camp is well aware of the timing of the closure being problematic with Twin City Days kicking off events next Thursday, but it was unavoidable.

The closure of South Main Street near Festus Center Drive will begin the day after Labor Day on Tuesday and will be closed for seven to ten days.
