Additional I-55 lane will benefit many

(Festus, Crystal City) The passage of the statewide gas tax increase is likely to include the additional funding for the Missouri Department of Transportation to have the monies to add an additional third lane of traffic along Interstate 55 from Pevely to south of Festus at Highway 67. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp says the additional lane will open up a lot of development opportunities in the area.

Camp wanted to commend the efforts of 114th District State Representative Becky Ruth, who serves as the chair of the House Transportation Committee.

The public review for comments to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission on the Improvement Plan for the fiscal years of the remainder of 2021 through 2026 ended on June 4th. The Commission will now review the comments and the final transportation program before considering it for approval on July 1st.
