Amato files bill to further compensate 1st responders families

(Jefferson City) State Representative Phil Amato of Arnold has filed a bill that will modify a previous bill that will compensate families of 1st responders killed in the line of duty. Amato says the Line of Duty Compensation Act was first passed by former State Representative Jeff Roorda several years back. Amato says his proposed changes to the bill would increase that amount of funding to the families.

Amato says Roorda tried to increase the funding prior to the end of his term but was unable to get it through.

The proposed change to the “Line of Duty Compensation Act” is House Bill 1174. The bill has been read a second time but is currently not scheduled for a committee hearing.
