Ameren Missouri Natural Gas Prices To Lower

(Farmington) Some good news for Ameren Missouri natural gas customers.

A news release from the Missouri Public Service Commission says to reflect estimated changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas, Ameren will see natural gas rates drop that will take effect next Thursday the 1st.

Residential customers currently pay approximately 95 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas.

The rate will now drop to about 63 cents per cubic foot, a 32 cent reduction. 50 to 55-percent of a customer’s current natural gas bill reflects the cost from wholesale suppliers.

The wholesale cost is not regulated by the Public Service Commission.

The P.S.C. says the wellhead cost of natural gas is unregulated and is primarily driven by supply, demand and the weather.

The P.S.C. says they do conduct a yearly regulatory review to ensure regulated natural gas companies make prudent decisions in securing supplies for their customers.

Ameren Missouri serves around 134,500 natural gas customers which include the counties of Bollinger and Dent.
