(Farmington) Many hunters are excited the Missouri Conservation Commission, in the last two years, have allowed two of the state’s larger wild animals to be hunted for the first time.

Conservation agents are giddy about it too including St. Francois County Conservation Agent Clayton Lewis.

Black bear season was approved this year and elk hunting was approved by the conservation commission last year.

Missouri residents interested can apply for black bear and elk hunting permits throughout the month of May by going to mdc.mo.gov/buypermits.

You can also call 800-392-4115.

A random drawing of applicants will be determined by July 1st for both seasons.
