Annapolis Man Charged with Murder back in Court Later This Month

(Ironton) An Iron County man accused of shooting and killing another man in Iron County will next appear in court later this month.

21-year-old McCoy Kelley of Annapolis will have the setting of his preliminary hearing Thursday, December 17th at 11 o’clock at the courthouse in Ironton.

Kelley allegedly killed 30-year-old William “Billy” Shy at his home off Highway 49 in Vulcan back in early August.

A news release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department said deputies found Shy deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses say Kelley knocked on Shy’s door…Shy opened the front door and that’s when Kelley allegedly shot at Shy several times, killing him.

Kelley eventually turned himself into the sheriff’s department after being on the run for a few days after the murder.

Kelley is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
