Annapolis Man has Jury Trial Set for First Degree Murder in Iron County

(Ironton) An Iron County man, accused of shooting and killing another man in Iron County in the summer of 2020, now knows when his murder trial will take place.

22-year-old McCoy Kelley of Annapolis will have a jury trial November 28th through the 30th at the courthouse in Ironton.

Kelley allegedly killed 30-year-old William “Billy” Shy at his home off Highway 49 in Vulcan.

Witnesses say Kelley knocked on Shy’s door…Shy opened the front door and that’s when Kelley allegedly shot Shy several times, killing him.

Kelley was on the run a few days after the shooting but he eventually turned himself into the sheriff’s department.

Kelley faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges.

He could get the death penalty if found guilty on the murder charge.

His last chance to plea bargain will be September 2nd.
