Another COVID Strain

(Washington D.C.) Health officials are reporting that a coronavirus outbreak that infected 46 people in a Kentucky nursing home has been determined to be the work of a new variant.

The R.1 variant, which is believed to have originated in Japan, has already infected 10,000 people around the world, however, the Kentucky cases mark the first time it’s been found in the United States.

That’s according to Dr. William Haseltine, a former Harvard Medical School professor.

As of this time, the World Health Organization hasn’t listed the R.1 variant as a concern.
