Another drowning death at Rockford Beach Park

(High Ridge) Another drowning took place at Rockford Beach Park in High Ridge on Saturday. Just before 3:30 in the afternoon, High Ridge Firefighters were dispatched to a water rescue call. When the first unit arrived on the scene, they were informed that an adult male was last seen floating in the water before disappearing, and he did not resurface. Rescuers deployed multiple boats and a drone to search the river and shoreline to attempt to locate the missing person. High Ridge firefighters also began searching the water using specialized sonar equipment. Tragically, the victim was located about an hour later, deceased in approximately 8 feet of water near an area of strong current. The name of the victim has not been released. This is the second drowning at the park this summer. A St. Louis man drowned there in early July.
