Another week in Covid-19 Red Status in Jefferson County

(Hillsboro) As the weekly Covid-19 numbers are tabulated this week, it’s anticipated that Jefferson County will remain in Red Status in the Covid-19 Color Guidance Indicators. Jefferson County Health Department Director Kelley Vollmar says the numbers have been decreasing slightly, but not enough to change the color status.

Vollmar says she’s aware of the rise in positive cases at Plattin Primary in the Jefferson R-7 School District, but she hasn’t been informed of any other problems within other districts.

Vollmar says the time between exposure and testing positive for Covid happens much more quickly with the Delta variant.

On Tuesday, the JCHD reported 107 new cases of Covid-19 in the county, bringing the total number of positive cases to 27,877 since March of last year. The current active cases is 748, and there have now been 278 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
