(Festus) There is a lot of hope that the Festus Tigers can have a full season on the pitch, because there is more excitement than ever around the boys’ soccer program.

The Tigers won the most games in team history last season, but they came up short in a tough 1-0 loss to Windsor in the district semifinals.

But head coach Austin Burgert loves where his team is after a squad full of freshman in 2019 returns looking for more this season.

The biggest source of excitement for the Tigers is the return of their top goal scorers in senior Alec Bell and sophomore Stephen Darden.

The pair combined to score a whopping 52 goals, and Burgert says they can continue to be a dynamic duo.

Burgert also believes Festus will be stout on the back end thanks to the return of starting goalkeeper Jack Uskiwich.

Festus opens the 2020 boys’ soccer season at home against St. Clair on August 28th.
