Arcadia Valley Volleyball Back In The State Semifinals
October 31, 2023 4:13PM CDT
(Ironton) The Arcadia Valley High School volleyball team will head to Cape Girardeau later this week to play in the Class Two state semifinals. After winning the District Three title over Jefferson R-7 on Tuesday, October 24th, the Tigers knocked off the Collegiate School of Med-Bio Science in the sectionals last Thursday and Scott City in the quarterfinals on Saturday. Arcadia Valley has won three district championships in 15 years under head coach Tara Lamb. The Tigers placed at state the previous two times: 2nd in 2018 and 4th in 2015. Coach Lamb says it’s hard to make it this far in the season just to go home without any hardware.
Lamb says it’s a surreal feeling to get to the final four with a brand new group of girls.
The volleyball state semifinals and championships are held at the Show Me Center on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The Tigers will head to Cape Girardeau on Thursday. They face the Fair Grove Eagles (33-1-2) Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Lamb says this is not an average week of practice and that she gave the girls Monday off.
Coach Lamb gives us her early scouting report on Fair Grove.
The Class Two state championship is Saturday at noon. The third place game is Saturday morning at 10. If the Tigers are playing for the state championship, we’ll broadcast the match on J-98.
