Arcadia Valley’s Smith Hits 2000 Point Mark, Named Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week

(Ironton) History was made on the basketball court in Ironton this past week.

Arcadia Valley’s Gracee Smith led the girls team to two commanding wins, eclipsed 2000 points for her career, and was named our Applebee’s of Farmington Athlete of the Week.

Lady Tigers’ head coach Ricky Turnbough says Smith is as deserving as anybody for all the accolades she has received.

In the team’s two wins last week, Smith averaged 33 points per game, four assists, and four steals.

In the game against Kingston on Thursday, Smith cemented herself as one of the best scorers in MAAA history.

Smith became just the fourth girls basketball player in MAAA history to eclipse 2000 points in her career.

Turnbough says while the numbers for Smith are staggering, he is most impressed by her ability to pour it on a game in and game out while the opposing defense is so focused on her.

As Athlete of the Week, Smith will receive a T-shirt, a certificate, and a coupon good for one free entree at Applebee’s in Farmington.
