Are School Snow Days a Thing of the Past?

(House Springs) Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, most school districts across the region have offered some form of virtual learning to its students, allowing for teachers, parents and kids to get use to the online platform and learning off campus.

With that in mind, schools are planning to utilize virtual learning to possibly eliminate snow days and have instruction online instead of in-person during days of inclement weather.

Northwest schools Superintendent Dr. Desi Kirchhofer says they had that idea even before the pandemic started.

Northwest recently sent out a survey to parents and staff asking whether or not they would prefer the AMI days, snow days, or a combination of the two.

According to Dr. Kirchhofer, they plan to do a combination of both AMI and snow days as a trial run this winter.
