Area Churches donate to Jefferson College’s Food Pantry

(Jefferson County) As an extension of their compassion through community service and life enrichment, several area churches recently began partnering to provide food and financial support for the Jefferson College Vikings’ Vault Food Pantry.

College spokesman Roger Barrentine says the Vikings’ Vault was created several years ago to help students at the college.

The churches that helped donate include Gracelife Chapel, Hillsboro Christian Church, Raintree Church, and First Baptists Church of De Soto.

The pantry is located on the bottom floor of the Student Center on the Hillsboro campus and a mini vault is available at Jefferson College Arnold.

Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am – 2pm.

Part-time staff and volunteers coordinate operation of the pantry each week.

The College also donates surplus food from the Vault as a public service to support several other food pantries in Jefferson County.
